Kendal and South Lakes Shopmobility is a local
registered charity (1072862). We are based on
Level 3 of the multi storey car park adjacent to
The Westmorland Shopping Centre, Kendal.
We have electric and manual wheelchairs and scooters,
which are available to hire by anyone with any type of mobility problem.
Opening times: 10am. 4pm. Monday to Saturday.
Please note, last booking for hire is 3pm.

Who are we?
Kendal & South Lakes Shopmobility is a local Registered Charity that provides 3 and 4 wheeled scooters and electric and manual wheelchairs to people with mobility problems of any kind to enable them to independently access the shops and facilities of the Kendal and South Lakes area. You do not need to be a Blue Badge holder or in receipt of disability benefits to use us.
How much does it cost?
After payment of an Annual Membership fee it is Free for full and joint members. Full membership is £30 per year and entitles you to free and priority use of the scooters/wheelchairs at all locations. Joint membership is £44 per year with the above benefits. Temporary membership is £2 per hour up to a maximum of £10 a day.
How do i join?
You will require some form of identification which must contain your name AND address such as driving licence or recent utility bill.
You will be asked to complete a short registration form.
Our friendly and helpful staff will then ensure you get the correct scooter or chair for your needs and will train you to use the equipment safely.
We will ask you to complete a few manoeuvres and ask you to undertake an eyesight check by reading a number plate across the car park. Its all very simple and we dont ask any intrusive questions.
When we are both happy you are then free to go off on your travels.
Where are we based in kendal?
We are situated on Car Park level 3 in the Westmorland Shopping Centre car park, this is adjacent to Argos if you are coming through the Shopping Centre. If coming by car, limited parking is available outside the office. There is a collection and drop off point for private cars and taxis. If you give us 24 hours notice we can arrange to meet you at the bus or train station with a scooter. Scooters can also be delivered to your home or hotel if you are in central Kendal, again with 24 hours notice.
