Kendal Indoor Market Hall was constructed in 1886 using funds raised by public subscription.
Previously an open area in which tables were set up before trading, it was fully refurbished in 1988 and now has eleven traders in permanent lockable units, as well as a changing variety of tables occupied on a daily basis. On Saturday, some tables are still occupied by the ‘butter ladies’, locals who sell home grown or home made produce and are entitled to stand on the market in certain spaces.
There is a wide range of goods available in the market and it is always worth visiting regularly.
The Indoor Market is conveniently situated just inside the Market Place entrance to the Westmorland Shopping Centre and there is easy flat access from here or from the multi storey car, park level 5.
The Indoor Market is a NO SMOKING area.
The Market is open to the public six days a week.
